About Me
I’m Natalie Hauff—host of The Expert Generalist, and someone who has built a career by saying yes to many things and learning to do them well.
I spent seven years as a local journalist, where I was part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning team recognized for public service reporting. From there, I transitioned into government and nonprofit leadership, first serving in county administration and now as a deputy director at a public library system. I oversee programs, outreach, communications, and partnerships that help people access resources, opportunities, and support—wherever they are in life.
In 2023, I had the honor of speaking at TEDx on the evolving role of public libraries and why public service is deeply personal to me. I’m also a Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI) Fellow and serve on several nonprofit boards committed to strengthening our communities. Outside of work, I volunteer locally and spend my favorite hours with my husband and young son in Charleston, South Carolina.
My professional path has never followed a single lane—and that’s true of so many of the people I admire most. The Expert Generalist is a celebration of them: the leaders, helpers, and behind-the-scenes problem-solvers who show up, adapt, and make real things happen.
